September is known around the world as “World Alzheimer’s Month.” This is the perfect time to show your support and raise awareness for the cure.
There are approximately thirty five million people across the globe affected by Alzheimer’s disease (AD) today. It’s the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. and as many as 1 in every 9 people are diagnosed with AD. That translates to nearly 5 million people in the United States who have Alzheimer’s disease. By the year 2050 those numbers are projected to rise exponentially to a staggering 14 million in America alone.
That is unless we do something to stop the progression or find a cure for the disease before that happens. So what can you do? If you are wondering how to get involved, there are many ways that you can make a difference.
